Malawi is a landlocked African country, situated in the continent’s southeastern region. Its topography is defined by highlands, split by the Great Rift Valley and the grandeur of Lake Malawi. As with other southern African countries, the drier months of May through to October are better for viewing big game through the sparse vegetation and at the edge of a few select watering holes. Bird lovers will want to visit during the rainy season, between November and April, when the conservation areas are teeming with all kinds of weird and wonderful creatures.
