Itinerary

Head up to Nieuwoudtville from Cape Town. As this is a long drive one can do with a detour. Enjoy the best organic wine in the Southern hemisphere at Org de Rac, the best MCC with a croissant. Get back on the road and this will take you most of the day. Really start drinking in the scenery on leaving Vanrhynsdorp and taking the Vanrhyns Pass via the Bokkeveld escarpment to Nieuwoudtville. Take time to explore the succulent nursery at Vanrhynsdorp if time allows. It is quite the experience.
Overnight in Nieuwoudtville.

Explore Nieuwoudtville, the Falls, the Hantam National Botanical Garden, the quiver tree forest (no flowers here, but the quiver trees will have you mesmerized), the local community’s bulb nursery on the edge of town, and even the church’s gardens. Everything comes up with flowers at this time of year.

Overnight in Nieuwoudtville.

Drive to the town of Clanwilliam. The countryside all around here will be filled with wild spring flowers. Clanwilliam serves as the center from which to do numerous short flower routes Graafwater, Lambert’s Bay, Leipoldtville and the Biedouw Valley. Also try to take some time to visit the Ramskop Nature Reserve above the town’s dam. It is lovely and worth the time (half an hour or more, depending on your energy levels).
Overnight in Clanwilliam

Drive from Clanwilliam to Paternoster. It is a shame not to experience something of the seaside whilst on the West Coast, and Paternoster is the epitome of West Coast living. Spend some time exploring one of the West Coast’s most beautiful seaside villages. Filled with quaint, whitewashed homes, many of them are still original fisherman’s homes, the beach, the restaurants, and the lifestyle. There is plenty to do in Paternoster, and even the local corner café is something of a deli to cater for visitors. Take the woe-e-bike and go visit the penguins and sport a whale while at it/ learn to make art with local artist leather or pottery

Overnight in Paternoster

Travel from Langebaan to the home of the Southern African San people at !Khwa ttu nature Reserve . Learn about the San Culture and still get to explore the wildflowers and have lunch at the restaurant (own account). Finish off the day in and around the charming town of Darling, known as the wildflower jewel of the West Coast, and for many Capetonians is where they come to experience the flowers in season. Visit the Renosterveld Reserve,
the Tienie Versveld reserve and the Duckitt Orchid Nurseries. Finish off your tour with beer testing a Darling Brew.

Spend the rest of the day in Darling town where the flower exhibition is held. The concentrated beauty of 1,200 species of flora occurs in the quaint little town of Darling. What better way to see the bounty of nature than in one of the most renowned flower season towns in the Cape
