Rogge Cloof is home to the Greatest Heavens on Earth! Located just outside of Sutherland, at an altitude of between 1400 to 1700 metres, the Rogge Cloof farm area hosts magnificent clear skies and expansive plains. This is an extinct volcano – the southernmost volcano and presumably the last volcano in South Africa to have been active. In the Roggeveld lies the famous Star Plains located exclusively on Rogge Cloof.
Besides enjoying the beauty of “Nothingness” and gazing at the stars, guests have the opportunity to taste Rogge Cloof’s very own and unique wines, book a nature drive or simply relax, rejuvenate and enjoy!!
New Holme Nature Lodge is situated within the newly proclaimed Karoo Gariep Nature Reserve, managed by PC and Marisca Ferreira. The nature reserve is the original Ferreira farm land, now a combination of nature, game and sheep farming. The family loves to share the Karoo and its original natural state with guests. Guests enjoy an authentic Karoo farm with all the comforts of home – situated on the banks of the Seekoei River that is home to the only hippo population in the Northern Cape. It is here at New Holme Nature Lodge where guests have the opportunity to spot the ‘Shy 5’ during a night drive.
Wildehondekloof Private Game Reserve is a luxury game lodge in the heart of the Klein Karoo’s Swartberg Mountain range, 40 km from Oudtshoorn. Activities and things to do include guided game drives – view various buck species including wildebeest, nyala, eland, kudu, hiking trails, walking and mountain biking
